YoungArts is an artist-led nonprofit founded in 1981 that provides mentorship, financial awards, and career development for young artists. Each year, thousands of talented artists ages 15 to 18 participate in its national program that culminates in award winners honing their craft with internationally recognized leaders and building lifelong connections.

The resulting poster series titled “NEW ICONS” celebrates the timeless power of artistic spaces, which are catalysts for young artists and their new voices. Each poster features an iconic art building transformed into a site of renewal, where beams of yellow and orange radiate outward, symbolizing sunlight, energy, and the emergence of new voices. Within each burst are silhouettes of artistic tools such as instruments and brushes, while the typography fills the negative space created by the explosion. The visual style draws inspiration from the Russian Constructivism movement, known for its geometric abstraction and sense of motion through diagonals, projectile shapes, and layered cutouts. Ultimately, “NEW ICONS” celebrates how a new generation of artists draws light from the past to ignite the future, transforming historic centers of art into living sources of imagination and collaboration.
